There is an old saying in Arabic, that goes:
الصَّبرُ مفتاح الفَرَج.
Loosely translated, it means patience is the key to unlock the doors of salvation.
But patience alone means nothing, and accomplishes nothing.
If you keep waiting “patiently” for something to suddenly happen out of the blue and turn your world upside down, chances are you are out of luck; and highly delusional, i might add.
Because you must take, what is yours. You must work for it, pour your heart and soul into it. And that my friend, means dedicating the time to figure out exactly what you want, and how it is that you will get there.
This, you can be patient with, to figure out. But once you know what it is you want, with the utmost certainty then take your time formulating your intricate plan, lay down the ground work, figure out how it is supposed to pan out.
Then and only then, will patience begin to serve you, and unlock the doors.
Otherwise you are just a sitting duck, waiting there patiently for nothingness. Stranded on deserted island, waiting for rescue that may never arrive, while a perfectly good boats sits there on the shoreline, staring you in the face.
We lead busy lives, dedicated towards accomplishments, and obtaining material things. But we never take the time to stop, and think about what it is that we really want. And consequently years go by, as we become more and more entrapped by the things society tell us we should want, which we struggle to obtain.
What of the things our soul craves? What of joy, happiness?
What of peace?
Because without the above, you really have nothing, no matter what your bank account reads, or what marvelous gizmos you possess.
Is that what you want? Nothing?
It’s about time you got started on that plan!
Let patience be a virtue again, rather than an excuse to do nothing, be nothing, and accomplish nothing…
What a tremendously beautiful life road map you have designed. Thank you for sharing your insights with us, my good friend.
Always a pleasure to hear from you brother 🙂
thank you for stopping by!
Beautifully said! I am sorry to say, I have no patience, not even the good kind! I mean, I am very patient with children, but not when it comes to waiting for things to happen. I am the kind of person who will not bother to read a manual before I put things together, I’d much rather figure it out myself 🙂 Never mind making a few mistakes along the way, mistakes are our best teachers right? 🙂 Thank you for a lovely post!
hehe, I’m afraid in today’s busy world we are all guilty of being impatient more than we care admit!
thank you for stopping by 🙂

Reblogged this on Smorgasbord – Variety is the spice of life and commented:
I have always rather leapt through open doors often into the unknown. I was the like this from childhood and I know my mother used to tear her hair out and tell me that I had to be patient, wait for Christmas before putting my stocking out in October (drove her nuts) wait to be asked, wait to be spoken to first, good things come to those that wait.. etc… I have tried waiting patiently several times in my life and usually life passed by my door and got grabbed by someone who stood in the street with arms open wide. You will find this to be an interesting blog to spend time in.
Thank you for stopping by, and for the reblog! I am glad you found it worth sharing 🙂
It’s kind of ironic that our parents teach us these bad habits, when certain things we are born with instinctively. I certainly hope if i ever have kids to do things differently, and end that loop…
I am sure that every parent feels that way but it must be very difficult at times to stick with good intentions with all the issues that they face. We can only do our very best. Great post and I hope people follow your blog from here. best wishes.
