Have you ever noticed, that most of the things you want, are the things you don’t have? But lets us dig a bit deeper, shall we? Are the things you want today, the same things you wanted a year ago? Or 5 years ago? Or even 10 years?
Many of you will argue that as a person grows, and matures, so too does their needs, desires and goals in life. But while that, in it’s own ambiguous way remains true, lets us pause to inspect this fact thoroughly, and strip it of all value. Lets us give it no meaning, save through one threshold: if today, you suddenly posses the one thing you most desire at the moment. The one thing that you think will make your life all that much better, and worthwhile. Will you be truly satisfied?
If you are true to yourself, and make no efforts to rationalize that which you know in your heart to be untrue, your answer will be a solid No most of the time. And that is for a good reason.
Our society is now built upon the foundations of materiality, with our feet deeply rooted into it’s soft and deceptive nature. The more you struggle, the deeper you sink down. Quicksand, if you will. The more you want, the harder you must work, and the less time you have.
But humor me for a moment, and envision your self desiring things that are of no materialistic value, or even better yet, things that you already have! What then?
Then, you will truly know the feeling of satisfaction, as your heart will be content. And you will no longer be i in a constant state of treasure hunting. This state of mind that blinds you from everything else, but the assumed riches upon discovery of this ever so elusive treasure everybody is chasing after.
If you; for one moment, lift your eyes off the treasure map you have been fixating over for years, you might have a moment to see the beautiful ocean in all it’s glory and majesty, beckoning you to roam free in the open seas, going wherever your heart desires. Doing what truly pleases your soul.
You might suddenly notice the ship crew present by your side, and how they’ve always been there for you supporting your every move. Consoling you at every defeat.
If and only if, for one moment you stop obsessing over treasures you don’t essentially need, then you will find out that you already have more than what you require and more. To be truly happy.
Do you not agree?
Try it, you might be pleasantly surprised…
