A friend of mine once asked me about hate, what it is, and how it relates to love?
Hate, is a very strong word. To hate is to invest so much energy as to bring forth destruction towards the target of your hate. But hate, in itself is a human conceived concept, and an ill conceived one at that. It has no roots in your spiritual essence, no standing on its own save for the power you give it through your own perception.
So you are saying it exists only in our minds?
Exactly.
But that can be said about all emotions, can’t love be labeled as that as well?
But it isn’t. And it cannot be. Think more primitively, more simply. Animals show compassion towards one another, they show love. Because they experience the energy of love we talked about earlier*. They sense it at a spiritual level, it comes to them instinctively. But have you ever seen an animal express hatred? When cornered, an animal will instinctively fight, trying to get out of harm’s way; and granted it might inadvertently cause harm. But it is not calculated, not directed towards bringing total destruction. Not meant to be enjoyed or directed.
An animal might dislike a person, but that is only because it has reason to. That person might have unintentionally hurt it, invaded it’s territory or otherwise. Once the person the animal dislikes is not around, the animal does not ever brood over him/her. It just wants to know peace. A human, experiencing hate, will think long and hard about how, and when it will be possible to inflict pain towards the hated person. Do you see the difference?
Yes i do. But you often refer to animals during out conversations, why is that?
Because animals are more in tune with their spirits. It comes naturally to them, something which people are getting less and less good at.
So tell me more about hate, in relation to love. What is the link?
It is a man-made link, so to speak. Two people are “in love”, first person decides that the relationship is not really working for them, he/she decides to sever ties. What does the other person do? There are only two options: accept it, and move on with their life, or refuse.
But this second person had been experiencing the energy of love so intensely and so abundantly, that he/she grows very accustomed to it’s soothing effects, and pleasing interaction. Suddenly, what they judge to be the source of all the love decides to take off, leaving them with nothing. Anger arises, they want all the love back, how dare the first person deny them what they crave, what they feel they rightfully deserve?
Before soon, they pass judgement: the first person is cruel. He/she never appreciated him/her. He was unworthy of all te time, effort and energy spent on them. The variables here are far too many to recount, but the end result is one: resentment grows. And hate, is born.
But sometimes you hate a person one minute, and you love them the next.
As i said before, love is an energy. You feel it sometimes, when you are in the right state of body and mind, and you fail to do so at others, when you are closed off. This is when logic, and rational thought again come into action, even at a subliminal level. And hate is once again brought forth for what you deem to be a valid reason. Because after all, logic and reason are not always objective, especially when emotions are involved.
So there is no hate?
None, but plenty.
None in reality, but plenty in the minds of those who create it?
Precisely. Couldn’t have said it better myself.
